being different

I kind of like that over the years it seems like it’s gotten trendy to be different or go against the grain.  When I was a kid I didn’t always like how different I was. I just wanted to be “normal” and it’s something that caused me to feel insecure growing up.

My mom has always been very into natural health and alternative stuff, so we didn’t eat “normal” food, we didn’t drink milk or soda, we always just drank water…distilled water. We only used shampoo and all other like products from the health food store.  We never had shoots and we never went to the doctor.  On top of all that, we were home schooled.

It may seem weird to you and as a kid, I sure thought it was compared to what everyone else seemed to do, but now that I’m older and have learned why we did those things…I wouldn’t do it any other way.  Jarrod and I now eat weird food and only buy certain things at the health food store, we won’t have our kids vaccinated and we will most likely home school them.

I want my kids to grow up knowing that what they eat, where they’re schooled or whether they go to the doctor or not doesn’t make them weird.  I hope they think it’s cool to be different.
